Five ex-Grenoblois tried at the assizes for rape in June

The trial of the five former Grenoble players at the Bordeaux Assizes will take place from June 17 to 28. They are being prosecuted for rape and failure to prevent a crime. Loïck Jammes, 29 years old, today a hooker in Aix-en-Provence, Denis Coulson, 29 years old, retired Irish pillar, and Rory Grice, 33 years old, third row from Oyonnax, will be tried for gang rape.

After the UBB-Grenoble match, on March 11, 2017 in the Top 14, they went out in town, met a student in a bar, aged 20 at the time, before taking her back, drunk, to their hotel, located near Mérignac airport. The three men, who allegedly abused her, deny the facts, ensuring that the young woman consented. When she left the establishment the next morning, she filed a rape complaint. The rugby players risk twenty years in prison.

Chris Farrell, 30 years old, Irish international center who also wears the Oyonnax jersey, and Dylan Hayes, 29 years old, New Zealand third row, international 7s, Valence-Romans, who had been indicted in this case in July 2021, will be tried for failure to prevent a crime. To avoid the assizes, the five players had used all possible recourses, up to the Court of Cassation.
