FC Weiden Ost Holds Annual General Meeting with Positive Outlook for the Future

Shortly before the end of the year, FC Weiden Ost held its annual general meeting in the sports center. The departments’ activities are current, but the numbers are from the previous year (2022). Chairman Franz Bäumler looked back at small construction projects that had been implemented in the association’s 50th year of existence. The work on the C pitch, the playground, the scoreboard and the new sales booth have been completed.

The soccer arena required a high proportion of their own contributions from the members. Nevertheless, costs amounting to 123,000 euros remained. After deducting funding, the deficit is still almost 50,000 euros. On the expenditure side, building maintenance is at a higher deficit, and the costs of the sports facility and also the sports operations have increased. It is pleasing that the number of members has increased to 671.

Treasurer Florian Gillitzer confirmed the negative balance, but at least the club was solidly managed. Of course, the current situation with the various crises has not left the club unscathed. “We remain optimistic and want to offer many sports-loving members a sporting home.” Auditor Thomas Ludwig confirmed correct entries.

In the department reports, Ingrid Igl started for women’s gymnastics. Of course she would like to see new blood join the department. Rudi Pieleck reported good success for his judo department. Three fighters from the U9 went to the Upper Palatinate Championships. The U13 started in ranking tournaments and at the North Bavarian Championship. The U18 took part in the open Bavarian championships with ten participants. The club also received a certificate because the judo department hosted a Hungarian delegation that was taking part in the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin. FC Weiden Ost and its judo department were one of the 38 Bavarian “Host Towns”.

The football department, headed by Markus Meier, was able to boast 21 football teams for the first time in the club’s 50th year of existence. The club has never had so many in play before. This starts with the Minikickers from the age of three, through the Bambinis up to three F, five E, three D and two C teams. The first men’s team plays in the district league, was promoted last year and is in third place in the table. Sepp Dütsch joined as a new coach. An old men’s team is also still actively involved. Difficult for them, because there are not many clubs that support “old men” anymore. There are also few friendly games.

The volleyball team is well positioned. The table tennis department reports three teams in the game. Volunteer representative Hans Forster reported on the events organized by the support association, which benefited the children and young people. Finally, Bäumler reminded that the anniversary took place on November 23rd, but that the festival would be postponed to the summer. The founding members, however, are to be honored at a celebration evening.
