Everything is looking good for OGC Nice, new leader

Leader of Ligue 1 ahead of PSG after eleven days of the championship, OGC Nice is still undefeated. Nothing is stopping the Aiglons at the start of the season.

When the Aiglons fly over the French championship. This Sunday, Nice struck again. At the end of the 11th day of Ligue 1, the Gym got the better of Stade Rennais (2-0). Thanks to a goal from Jérémie Boga just before half-time (45th), Dante and his team led the way throughout the match. Before completing their victory (87th), with a delicious free kick from Sofiane Diop which hits the crossbar and deceives Mandanda. Reduced to 10 with fifteen minutes to go, the Niçois did not slow down their infernal pace, to achieve a fourth consecutive victory.

Autumn champion memories…

With this success, OGC Nice takes back control. From now on, the Gym is ahead of Paris Saint-Germain, by a very small point (25 against 24), and two points ahead of Monaco (23). A reminder of the exceptional 2016-2017 season… At the end of the first leg, the team led by Lucien Favre won the fall champion title, ahead of these same two teams. To finally finish 3rd and win a ticket for the Champions League, while Mbappé’s AS Monaco won the title. Perhaps less flamboyant than at that time, but just as effective, this Gym team can dream big again.

Never led, never defeated

Since the start of the season, the Aiglons have suffered together to bring back valuable points. After three first draws, the machine was launched in September against Strasbourg (2-0), then against PSG at the Parc des Princes (3-2). Momentum confirmed in Monaco the following week (1-0). In all the eleven matches played, the Gym was never behind for a single minute. Proof of real solidity, also highlighted by this 8th match without conceding a goal. Francesco Farioli’s men are on cloud nine, but not a cloud of rain. One that may well last…
