Burkardt has had a long period of suffering behind him. He played his last game on November 13, 2022 in a 1-1 draw in the Bundesliga against Frankfurt, where he was FSV’s goalscorer. He was then out for a long time due to a knee injury and subsequent surgery as well as bone marrow edema. The former U21 star (ten goals in 20 games) had to postpone his return again and again.
