Elise Mertens Wraps Up 2023 Tennis Season and Looks Ahead to 2024

Since the beginning of November, the 2023 tennis season has officially ended for Elise Mertens (WTA 29). The semi-finals at the WTA Finals in Cancun, Mexico were her last achievement. A well-deserved holiday is therefore more appropriate.

In 2024, Hunter and Mertens will no longer work together. Our compatriot announced after the WTA Finals that “there is a different vision on the court”.

Reunion?

According to tennis website Open Court, it appears that Mertens will play doubles with Su-Wei Hsieh again in the coming year. With the Taiwanese, the Limburg native had his heyday in 2021 with a final victory on the sacred grass of Wimbledon, the American Indian Wells and they were runner-up at the WTA Finals that same year.
