Ederson withdraws from Brazil for matches against Colombia and Argentina

Manchester City’s Brazilian goalkeeper was injured on Sunday against Chelsea (4-4). He is replaced by Bento, the goalkeeper of Athletico Paranaense, within the Seleçao.

Goalkeeper Ederson, injured in a foot during a match with his club Manchester City, was forced to withdraw from Brazil’s matches in Colombia and against Argentina, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced on Monday. Called up last week for the next matches of the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, Ederson was injured during the Premier League clash played against Chelsea on Sunday at Stamford Bridge (4-4). To compensate for his absence, coach Fernando Diniz called on Bento, the Athletico Paranaense goalkeeper.

Brazil will face Colombia on Thursday in Barranquilla before hosting world champions Argentina on November 21 at the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
