Dwamena, former Zaragoza and Levante player, dies after collapsing during a match

Sad news that comes to us from Albania. Raphael Dwamena, former Zaragoza and Levante player, has died after fainting during the match between his team, Egnatia Rrogozhinë, and Partizani in the Albanian League. It was the third time that a player who had to stop while playing for Zaragoza had suffered a setback of this type during his time in Spain.

Dwamena, a native of Ghana, was only 28 years old. The emergency services tried to revive the footballer, who ended up dying in hospital. Levante wanted to say goodbye to their former player with an emotional message on X, formerly Twitter: «We want to express our most sincere condolences for the death of our former player, Raphael Dwamena. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this difficult time. “His legacy in our club will always endure.” In Valencia he scored a goal (against Lugo in the Cup) and distributed two assists in the First Division in the 15 duels he played, while in Zaragoza, in the Second Division, he managed to score two goals in just nine games. The managers have also dedicated a heartfelt farewell to him: «We are devastated by the sad news of the death of our former player Raphael Dwamena. We want to send all our love and affection to his family and his loved ones. “You will always be in the memory of all Zaragoza.”

International with Ghana

He wore the Ghana national shirt eight times and scored two goals, both in his debut against Ethiopia, in a qualifying match for the African Cup. He made his debut in 2017 and played his last game with the ‘Black Stars’ in 2018. Among the clubs he scored 98 goals in 196 games and distributed 42 assists.
