DP World Tour Pavon: “I play with more freedom”

Liberated by his first tournament victory in Madrid in October, which allowed him to fulfill his objectives for the season, the Frenchman Matthieu Pavon joined Julien Guerrier at the top of the leaderboard (67, -5), this Thursday, surfing the wave of confidence that has been inside him for some time.

“As always, every tournament I play is to win it. I try to maintain a calm and patient attitude but also a conquering one at the same time. I played very well today (Thursday), I made very few errors especially from the 5th, where I think I took all the fairways and all the greens. It was really, really good golf. The 17th (a par 3 where his ball grazed the ace), it was the little wink that made me tell myself that I was in the right place and I didn’t hold back on the 18th, where I I took my chance and made a great putt (7 m). »

“The only problem is that I don’t really like electric cars (offered to any player who makes a hole in 1), so it’s not bad that it didn’t come in (laughs)… I’m kidding, but it wasn’t really the line I wanted to be honest. We play a little safer shot on this hole because the flag is difficult, we have to play a little more in the middle of the green. I was lucky enough to make this slightly bland jumper which goes well towards the flag going slightly to the left with a slightly happy bounce which means that the ball ends up quite close. »
