DP World Tour Homa s’impose au Nedbank Golf Challenge, Pavon 15e

The American flew through the final round of the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa (-19). Matthieu Pavon missed his last lap (+5) but still took a good 15th place (-6).

“It’s all great, but most of all I can’t wait to go home.” Having left the United States just before the Ryder Cup, in September, without returning there since, Max Homa will have excess baggage on the flight which will bring this young dad back to his family in the coming hours. The American triumphed at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa, putting on steel from the start of the course (four birdies and a bogey in the first six holes) and remaining at this tempo throughout. round (66, co-best card of the day).

Max Homa is the first American to win this tournament since Jim Furyk (2005, 2006). He beat a Danish duo: Nicolai Hojgaard (-15) and Thorbjorn Olesen (-14), the latter having approached two shots behind the leader at the exit of 7 before getting stuck. The Nordiques had a successful Sunday and Justin Thomas (-12) too. The American also completed his last lap in 66 to grab 4th place. A runner-up that was out of reach for Matthieu Pavon…

The last time the Frenchman found himself in a position to win, he managed this prospect with mastery, a month ago, in Madrid, during the Spanish Open, to win his first title on the European circuit (64 during the last round). This time, when he had started the day one shot from Max Homa in front of some elephants walking in the natural park adjoining the course, the Frenchman didn’t even have time to believe it.
