Djokovic Defeats Alcaraz to Advance to ATP Masters Final Against Sinner

Serbian Novak Djokovic, world number 1, defeated Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz (N.2) 6-3, 6-2 in the ATP Masters semifinals on Saturday and will face Italian Jannik Sinner in the final on Sunday.

Djokovic, the current champion of the tournament, will play his ninth final in the competition on Sunday and can become the first player in history to win the “Masters tournament” seven times.

Sinner will be the Serbian’s last obstacle to achieving that record, although the Italian already beat Djokovic in the group stage.

Djokovic continues to demonstrate his dominance

On Saturday, the Serbian showed his strength against Alcaraz, whom he broke in the eighth game of the first set to take the lead and take the first set.

In the second set they only had to wait for the third game to achieve the ‘break’ at the end of 11 points, and then went up 2-1.

The Spaniard then reacted and stood up, but lost his serve again in the seventh game, leaving a clear path to the final for Djokovic.

Djokovic praised Alcaraz

The Serbian took the microphone, but not to speak well of himself, but to praise the tough rival he had in the semifinals.

“I knew it was going to be a game with a lot of intensity, because that’s always the case with Carlos. He is one of the most complete players I have played against. Very dynamic, very fast doing many things; how he defends, how he attacks… it is a very important victory for me,” Nole said.
