The Iglesias field will host “Red Diamonds”, the first blind baseball game dedicated entirely to women, with the latter the absolute protagonists of the event.
The day, organized by the ASD Thurpos ETS Association, is totally dedicated to equal opportunities and the perfect combination of sport and disability.
«For the first time in 27 years» explains the president of Asd Thurpos Onlus Giuseppe Tocco, «two teams made up entirely of women will face each other». In blind baseball, in fact, the teams are mixed and the number of players is significantly lower than that of boys.
«Diamanti Rossi will see the participation of sighted and visually impaired players from all over Italy, from Milan to Messina» explains Tocco. But not only that: from the referees to the coaches, the presence on the pitch will be totally female.
The two days
On the 25th there will be the presentation of the teams live on Facebook. The girls will then compete on Sunday 26th at 10am, divided into two teams with highly emblematic names: the Rose Queens in shocking pink jerseys and the Violet Princesses in purple jerseys. Both shirts will have the number 125 imprinted on the back (to remember the number of feminicides in 2022) and on the front the red ribbon for the World Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
The event in fact has the dual purpose of saying no to violence and yes to participatory integration through sport, thus showing the true value of women on and off the pitch.
The whole day starting from 09:30 will be broadcast live on the YouTube platform of the Directa Sport Live TV channel.
