Davy Klaassen has appeared on the radar of Vancouver Whitecaps, write American media. The attacking midfielder signed one season with Internazionale last summer and can therefore end his career in the MLS. The former Ajax, Werder Bremen and Everton player has never made a secret of his desire to move to North America.

After only one season, Klaassen’s adventure in Italy seems to be coming to an end. The attacking midfielder noticed last summer that his chances of playing time at Ajax under Maurice Steijn would shrink considerably and ultimately opted for money with a transfer to Internazionale. Even though the thirty-year-old midfielder hoped to play more in Milan, he has only started once so far.

Vancouver Whitecaps, currently number six in the MLS Western Conference, actually hoped to acquire Klaassen in the coming transfer period. However, the 41-time international does not want an interim departure from Internazionale, which means that Vancouver Whitecaps can only hope for his arrival after the current season.

A few years ago, Klaassen told the NOS that he is a fanatic follower of Major League Baseball and the Toronto Blue Jays are his favorite club: “My girlfriend lived in Canada for a while and the Blue Jays are the only Canadian team in the MLB. So the choice is quickly made.” Klaassen continues: “It is a completely different atmosphere than football. A little quieter. And when something happens, it is a real spectacle. We were there for a few days. Then I said to me: a friend that we had to go and see, of course.”
