First official outing at the Valtellina Wine Trail for the association to which the Asst Valtellina and Alto Lario is affiliated
First official outing, last Saturday, in Sondrio, for the Dappertutto Sport e Benessere Sports Association, born within the activities of the Neurorehabilitation and Spinal Unit of the Valtellina and Alto Lario Asst with which it is affiliated. The presence at the Valtellina Wine Trail, which took place among the paths and vineyards of the Rhaetian coast, had a double meaning: participation in the competition for doctors, nurses and physiotherapists of the Sondalo Hospital, the promotion of sporting activity for people with disability. An idea launched last January during the “Knowing sport” conference, organized at Morelli, which materialized in the following months thanks to the joint commitment of the operators of the Spinal Unit and the Dappertutto association, inspired by the Unit’s model spinal system of the Niguarda Hospital to encourage the practice of sports by disabled people. Said and done: today the sports association is a reality that is taking its first steps chaired by Alex Salvetti and with Dr. Luca Binda, head of the Neurorehabilitation and Spinal Unit, as vice president. Both were present at the stand set up in Piazza Garibaldi to promote the association’s activities. Also on display are the fifteen joelettes who participated in the special initiative that debuted last year at the Valtellina Wine Trail. In fact, thanks to single-wheel off-road wheelchairs, with the help of two people, even people with disabilities can undertake excursions on mountain paths. Also at the stand it was possible to try pedaling with your arms using an assisted handbike, donated by Enrico Maccarini of E-Stelvio, which is available in the Morelli spaces reserved for introductory sports activities with the support of the Committee Italian Paralympic.
«The Valtellina Wine Trail represented an important opportunity to make our association known and to involve people with disabilities – underlines Dr. Binda -: we had confirmation that there is interest in sports practice which is capable of improving both health and psychophysical well-being. We can count on the support of AUSportiva of the Niguarda Hospital as part of the active collaboration between the Lombard Spinal Units envisaged by the Region”. The association was founded with the aim of proposing sport as a means of social integration and as a determining factor for the psychophysical well-being of people with motor and cognitive disabilities. The activity is offered in the gym of the fifth pavilion of the Morelli Hospital. From swimming to archery, from handbiking to table tennis and cycle touring with joelettes.
