Daegu Science University announced on the 22nd that it had established a badminton team.
The establishment of this badminton team was designed to cultivate the right sports spirit in students by revitalizing university sports as part of the Olympic Games and expanding the base of lifestyle sports.
The founding ceremony was attended by Daegu Science University President Park Ji-eun, appointed professors and advisors, and about 100 key figures from the badminton and sports world and political relations.
The badminton team consists of coaches and 10 players, led by instructor Doo-yeol Bae (Police Security Administration Department).
In the future, it is expected that it will contribute to the development of athletics and the enhancement of the university’s status through top prizes at the National Sports Festival and various national competitions.
Park Young-ki, president of the Daegu Metropolitan Sports Council, said, “We will actively help the Daegu Science University badminton team to become the best badminton team by providing generous administrative and financial support.”
President Park Ji-eun said, “Daegu Science University hopes to take the lead in new vitality and innovation in elite physical education and daily sports through the establishment of this badminton team, following Sepak Takraw, Hockey, Taekwondo, Judo, and Hapkido.” He added, “To expand the base of badminton in Korea, “We will do our best to nurture talent,” he said.
