Daan Heymans reflects on his first goal of the season and Charleroi’s win

“It was a nice goal,” Daan Heymans laughs after his first goal of the season.

In the 90 Minutes podcast, the Charleroi midfielder admitted several times that he was longing for his first goal. And that the fans’ patience was not endless after a few missed opportunities.

“So it was especially good that it now worked. I had to wait a long time for it.”

“Some people turned against me when I missed the opportunities,” he openly admits. “So there were a lot of emotions involved.”

“It’s a pity that I then feel the pain in my ankle, because I was doing well in the match. Who knows, I could have made my second, because it may soon follow.”

Due to the ailment, Heymans had to leave the stage at halftime. From the bench he saw a crazy final phase.

“When the equalizer came in the final minutes, I said to my teammate next to me that I could already feel the mood hanging in the air. But we finished the match well and still won.”

“The match could have gone in any direction,” says the midfielder. “But the points are especially important. We want to get out of the relegation zone as quickly as possible.”

A good example of how it should be done has already been set.
