In his first participation Tadej Pogacar won the Saitama Cycling Criterium in Japan. The Slovenian beat the American Sepp Kuss in the sprint. This annual competition, created in 2013 by the Amaury Sport Organization group, allows Tour de France winners to compete in the Saitama department in northern Japan. Slovakia’s Peter Sagan, who will retire from road racing to return to mountain biking next year, finished third.
