Cúcuta Deportivo’s Hopes Dashed in Semifinals, Despite Strong Performance

Cúcuta Deportivo put up a fight in the semifinals of the BetPlay Cup and against Millonarios they were not greatly surpassed and even in both games they maintained a slight difference on the scoreboard and that made them excited about the final.

However, the motilón ended up eliminated at the General Santander stadium after losing 2-1 on aggregate and the hopes of achieving a title vanished in front of their audience.

Beyond the result, Cúcuta’s game was good and Jaime Peralta, an 18-year-old player who scored against the ambassador in the second leg, knows this very well.

The attacker made it clear in an interview on Caracol Radio’s Vbar that a good job was done, but the defensive zone led by Juan Pablo Vargas and Andrés Llinás did not attract much attention, highlighting that he has faced better players.

“The truth is that they are good centre-backs, there were many duels, some they won and others I won. I didn’t think they were that complicated. They left a lot of space. It didn’t seem complicated to me because I have faced others who are stronger and tougher,” said Jaime Peralta.

It should be mentioned that Millonarios’ defensive zone was not fine against Cúcuta and in fact, Andrés Llinás was one of those involved in Cúcuta’s goal, although they managed to settle in as the minutes passed and helped not concede any more scores.
