Cross-country skiing, Italy’s squad for the World Cup in Ruka: Pellegrino and De Fabiani lead the Italian group

The day of the great return is approaching. From November 24th to 26th the Cross-Country Skiing World Cup 2023-2024 will take off and be the town of Ruka (Finland) to start the dancing. The program includes a sprint in classic technique, a 10 km in classic technique and a 20 km in free technique for men and women.

At home in Italy, the technical manager Markus Cramer he called nine athletes: Federico Pellegrino, Francesco De Fabiani, Paolo Ventura, Davide Graz, Simone Da Prà and Elia Barp among men; Francesca Franchi, Caterina Ganz and Anna Comarella among women.

Some of the athletes mentioned have approached the event in question by testing themselves in some FIS races in Muonio/Olos, again on the Finnish snow. Seventh place is worthy of mention Caterina Ganz in the women’s 10 km free technique, while in the same event the men featured prominently Davide Grazthird at 5″7 from the German Friedrich Moch. Pellegrino finished fifth.

Looking at the history, Italy boasts only one podium in the Finnish stageobtained with the aforementioned Pellegrino in November a year ago. The Aosta Valley champion concluded in third place in the pursuit race.
