All those involved in sporting activities were present on Monday around Françoise Delage, the mayor, to receive the “Commune sport for all” label that Thierry Mandin, director of the “Aquitaine sport for all” agency, had come to present. A label requested by elected official Éric Suire, himself a sports presenter, “ because I thought that sport, like reading, were important values that needed to be encouraged.” “There are not a lot of municipalities that reach this level,” commented the mayor, referring to the 172 municipalities currently certified in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, and to the numerous associations which encourage the practice of a sport such as hiking, horse riding, judo, gymnastics and yoga, pétanque , football, also including sporting activities during extracurricular activity times. This was confirmed by Thierry Mandin, explaining that “this label is issued by a jury of qualified personalities, even if the spirit of competition is not the priority of this honorary distinction for the municipalities, but which allows, thanks to this network which is being created, to identify and promote those which have implemented a sports policy open to all of their inhabitants thanks to various sports actions and facilities”, before handing over the official “Commune sport for all” sign, as well as sports manager guides.
