City Council Announces Exciting New Sports Competitions for Young Athletes

This was stated by the City Council in a statement, in which it was pointed out that, in some cases, “the first competitive experiences” will be lived, in competitions that “will last until the month of May, being enjoyed every week, except for periods “non-school or bridges, in the city facilities”.

Specifically, in basketball, more than 90 teams from 16 different entities will meet, with athletes from baby-4 to youth categories and a total of 1,200 players. As the main novelty, the City Council has highlighted the implementation of the digital minutes, “which will allow all participants to follow the matches, results or classifications in real time, through the Swish application.”

Similarly, in soccer, around 950 young soccer players and a total of 75 teams will participate, which will begin to play at the facilities of the Ciudad Deportiva del Juncal and the Wanda Espartales Sports Complex. For its part, futsal has 42 teams and a total of 450 athletes in local and joint competitions, and will be refereed by official coaches from the Royal Madrid Football Federation.

The local volleyball competition will start on November 17, with almost 50 teams and 525 players on the indoor and outdoor courts of the Val Sports Complex. In this competition there will also be refereeing by official Federation technicians.

On the other hand, the Demetrio Lozano – Virgen del Val pavilion will host the handball matches, with around 150 athletes competing in the Apertura Tournament, the Clausura Tournament and the Spring Cup. Finally, the City Council has also recalled individual sports, highlighting the School Cross Country circuit and the call for tests in 2024 for track athletics, chess, badminton, rhythmic gymnastics, swimming or tennis.
