Chubut achieved a varied harvest of medals during the second day of competition of the Araucanía Binational Games. The cyclist from Puerto Madryn, Tadeo Quesada, won the 100 km platoon road test and won the gold medal, as did the athlete Agustín Coronel when he triumphed in the 100 meter dash competition.
And in swimming, in the 100 meter backstroke event, Joaquín Ismael from Trelew climbed to the top of the podium to receive the highest distinction of the competition.
In athletics, Denise Torres (silver) and Ana Walser (bronze) also made the podium in the 100 meter competition.
In summary, athletics contributed three medals in total on Tuesday morning; one of gold, another of silver and bronze. In turn, Leonardo Felices was 20 seconds away from obtaining the bronze medal in the 5,000 meter dash and in the end finished fifth with 15:55.88.
In the women’s 3,000 meter dash, María Florencia Avila achieved seventh place.
Judo also contributed podiums for Chubut. Adriana Farías won the silver medal in 52 kg, and Jeremías Farías bronze medal in 55kg.
In team sports, men’s soccer debuted with a 5-0 win over Los Lagos. In men’s basketball, Chubut achieved its second consecutive victory and keeps alive the chances of advancing to the semifinals, while the women’s basketball team lost to Magallanes and there is no longer any hope of a podium finish.
In volleyball there were triumphs in both branches.
After the gold in cycling and the two judo medals, Chubut confirmed its leadership in the general medal table, with a total of 15 medals, six gold medals (two in athletics through Agustín Coronel, two in cycling and another two in swimming , contributed by Joaquín Ismael and the 4×100 meter combined relay), four silver and five bronze.
