Displaying control in the match, the Himachal Pradesh pair of Shivansh and Pranav Chandel carved out a 21-17, 21-14 win over the pair of Jaagrit Binnani and Lajshya Chawat of Rajasthan to move into the boys’ main draw in the Yonex Sunrise 30th Smt Krishna Khaitan Memorial All India Junior Ranking Prize Money tournament being organised by Express Shuttle Club Trust at Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex, Sector 3, on Thursday.

The opening game of the match saw both the pairs matching each other before the pair of Shivansh and Chandel won the game 21-17 to take a 1-0 lead in the match. The second game too went close before the Himachal Pradesh pair won the game 21-14 to book their place in the main draw.

Sankar and Kumara pocketed the opening game 21-13 before claiming the second game 21-17 to seal the win.

In the girls’ doubles second qualification round, the Himachal Pradesh pair of Ritika and Bharati Sharma carved out a tough 21-23, 21-17, 21-16 win over the Delhi pair of Tamanna Das and Kirti to enter the main draw. Ritika and Bharati lost the opening game 21-23 before staging a comeback to win the second game 21-17. The final game saw the Himachal Pradesh pair playing with confidence and the pair won the game 21-16 to enter the main draw.

In another match of the same category, the pair of Keerthy Manchala and Varna P of Telangana and Tamil Nadu scored a 21-13, 21-7 win over the pair of Alisha Bhandari and Sneha Maurya of Delhi.

In the boys’ singles final qualification round, Vaibhav Anasuri of Telangana scored a 21-19, 18-21, 21-19 win over Sachin Jhajharia of Rajasthan to enter the main draw. It was also a winning day for Anirudh Kaushik of Haryana as he scored a 23-21, 21-17 win over Jatin Singh of Rajasthan.
