Champions League: Bayern, Inter, Real and Real Sociedad qualified, Benfica and United sink

There are four new qualifiers for the round of 16 of this 2023-2024 edition of the Champions League. After Manchester City and Leipzig on Tuesday, who concluded all suspense in group G, Bayern Munich (gr. A), Real Madrid (gr. C), Inter and Real Sociedad (gr. D) all three have validated their ticket for the next round this Wednesday evening.

The misfortune of some making the happiness of others, it is in particular the Benfica supporters who are looking gloomy this Wednesday evening, slapped by a Real Sociedad astonishingly dominant (3-1). First in the PSG group last season, the Eagles are already eliminated after 4 defeats in as many matches. In the other match of the group, Inter secured the essentials with the smallest of margins against Salzburg (1-0). With 10 points each, the Txuri-Urdin and the Nerazzurri, who will face each other on the last day, are calm.

In Group A, Bayern was held in check for a long time by Galatasaray before everything came to an end at the end of the match, thanks to a double from the inevitable Harry Kane (79th, 86th). Final score: 2-1 for the Bavarians who are the only team besides Real Madrid to have won their four matches and to have 12 points after four days. Better, Bayern remains on a series of 17 consecutive victories in the Champions League group stage. The Madrilenians, in group C, made short work of Braga (3-0).

Note the completely crazy scenario of the Manchester United match, which led 2-0 in Copenhagen at the start of the match thanks to a double from Hojlund (3rd, 28th) before breaking down following the exclusion of Rashford. First two goals conceded in added time of the first period (45th, 45th + 9), a penalty from Bruno Fernandes to restore the advantage to the Red Devils (69th) and finally two goals in quick succession to finish off the men of Ten Hag (83rd, 87th). The Mancuniens, with 3 points, are last in group A.
