Caribes swept Magallanes in Puerto La Cruz

Caribes de Anzoátegui defeated Navegantes del Magallanes 5-2 and completed the sweep in the doubleheader this Sunday at the “Chico” Carrasquel.

The Eastern ninth team took the lead in the third inning with a home run by Ricardo Genovés with a teammate in circulation.

Two more came in the fourth for Caribes with an RBI double by Willians Astudillo and a single that drove in another by Herlis Rodríguez.

Magallanes made his two runs in the fifth inning. Luis Torrens led off the inning with a home run to left-center field.

While Carlos Rodríguez hit a single and would score the second on a ground ball by Angelo Castellano.

Caribes’ fifth came thanks to a sacrifice fly by Balbino Fuenmayor that drove in Niuman Romero.

Caribes’ relief team worked three scoreless innings to seal the victory. The winning pitcher was Emerson Martínez (1-0) who pitched two-thirds blank.

Loiger Padrón got his first save of the season when he pitched the final inning. Emanuel De Jesús (0-2) was defeated, allowing four runs in three and two-thirds innings of work.

With this Caribbean sweep of its record at 11 wins and 19 losses, while Magallanes is left with 14 wins and 17 losses.
