Caribes left Águilas on the field

Caribes de Anzoátegui took revenge for the defeat suffered on the first day and defeated Águilas del Zulia 8-7 in the second of the double round in Puerto La Cruz and which was decided in extra inning.

Caribes took the lead with two in the first inning. An RBI double from Víctor Reyes and a sacrifice fly from Luis Sardiñas made it 2-0.

Zulia equalized in the top of the second with a solo home run by Héctor Sánchez and a double by Alex Romero that drove in Niko Hulsizer.

Caribes took the lead again in the second inning with a home run driving three by Ricardo Genoves and a single by Herlis Rodríguez that drove in another.

The Eagles scored three points in the fourth. Three walks and a pair of singles combined to make the game 6-5.

Zulia turned the score around in the seventh inning. A double by Simon Muzziotti and singles by Andrés Chaparro and Yonathan Perlaza brought two for the Águila to take a 7-6 lead.

But like the first match, this one would also go to extra innings. A pair of walks and an RBI single by Víctor Reyes tied the score at seven.

At the close of the eighth Caribes would take out the thorn against Águilas. Herlis Rodríguez, who started the inning at second due to the Pan American rule, advanced to third on a passed ball and scored the walk-off with a single by Willians Astudillo.

Yeizo Campos (1-1) took the victory by pitching a scoreless inning. Eiberson Castellano (0-1) was the loser by receiving the run in the eighth inning.

Caribes remains with a record of 5-9, while Águilas leaves its record at 9-7.

Both ninths will face each other again tomorrow in Puerto La Cruz in the fourth and last of this series that Águilas wins 2-1 so far.
