In October, the 55-year-old announced that he would accompany Holger Rune as a trainer in the future. The former professional particularly likes the 20-year-old’s style of play.
“I like strong personalities. I think tennis needs players with character who express their feelings. I like his aggressiveness. I was an aggressive player myself. I also like the way he expresses himself on the court. He is a real fighter, spirited,” said Becker in an interview with “L’Equipe”.

The tennis icon continued that it’s part of the Dane’s ability to sometimes go a bit overboard. “If Holger doesn’t follow the rules, he has to pay a fine, as was the case with me. The worst thing that can happen to tennis is that there are players who stay silent all the time,” says Becker clear.
“Sometimes he tries the impossible. And then there’s his passion for the game. Nobody has to ask him to train. Then it’s easier for a coach. To be really good, you have to be a little crazy, you know. ..” adds the six-time Grand Slam winner, who finds the many problems of Rune’s colleagues a little strange.
“When I hear players complain about the pressure they feel at one point, I laugh. When I hear players complain about the quality of the food in the lounge, I laugh.
