Bertram Derthona in the field for diabetes research

A new social issue features Derthona Basket, which takes to the field in the match against Igokea m:tel, Wednesday 15 November, to raise awareness on the issue of diabetes.

The Company supported the proposal of Simone Carniglia, a 36-year-old boy who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) in 1999. Throughout his life, Simone has always practiced team activities for fun and to better keep under control diabetes. In 2018, after gaining weight, Carniglia started running foot races, the first of which was 10km. Having Stefano Baldini, Olympic marathon champion in Athens 2004, as an example of style, Simone started running the first marathons, managing to cover 42km and 195 meters in less than three hours. On November 5, 2023 he completed the 6 Marathon Majors (Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York), running all of them with an average of less than 2 hours and 45 minutes: a great result for an athlete, even better for an affected person from diabetes, which guarantees Simone Carniglia entry into the Guinness Book of Records.

Bertram Derthona, struck by Simone’s story (here to read his story and donate without purchasing products: he decided to support him by giving him some items worn by the first team players and signed, which can be purchased at the link: The funds raised will go to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), which is the largest organization in the world in research studies for the cure of T1D.

World Diabetes Day is on November 14th, the following day Simone Carniglia will be a guest of Bertram Derthona for the match against Igokea. The items that are not sold in the online auction active at the link above will be purchasable that evening, by bidding, in the stall present at the PalaEnergica Paolo Ferraris.
