Badminton Albatros Athletes Shine in TTR Tournament in Castilian-Leonese Town

Badminton Albatros continues to travel throughout Spain. Thus, on Saturday, November 11, 2023, three of its athletes traveled to the Castilian-Leonese town of Medina del Campo, province of Valladolid, to compete in a new TTR Tournament that counts toward the national ranking. These have been Marcos Romero, Samuel Rodríguez and Adrián Lozano.

In the U15 Men’s Individual category, Marcos Romero and Samuel Rodríguez competed. The two albatrosses had signed up for the TTR with the intention of going, as it could not be otherwise, as far as possible, although once the draw for the tournament, groups and final draw was known, they already knew that it was not going to be possible. , because in the case of each of them qualifying for the final draw, in which only the first in the group qualifies, they would face each other in the quarterfinals.

Both Marcos Romero and Samuel Rodríguez performed perfectly in the groups where they were classified as first in each one in which they competed, so they both ‘saw each other’ in an eliminatory match in the quarterfinals in which Marcos beat Samuel in two competitive sets, so Samuel finished the Tournament in fifth position, while Marcos reached the semifinals.

Already in the semifinals, Marcos beat the Asturian Gonzalo Álvarez, from Badminton Vegadeo, in two intense sets, reaching the final in which he could not beat the Castilian-Leonese Isaac Martín, from Badminton Laguna, so Marcos finished as runner-up of the TTR.

Marcos Romero and Samuel Rodríguez competed in the U15 Men’s Doubles modality, where they faced rivals with a better ranking and more understanding than them by forming stable pairs throughout the season, not being able to access the final draw, to classify in a creditable third. Tournament position.

Adrián Lozano competed in the U19 Men’s Individual category, when his age was still U17, qualifying as second in his group, out of a total of six groups, not being able to advance to the final draw, classifying in a shared ninth place, beating the copper with more experienced and older players than him, in a category that will be his during the next 2024 Season, in which he will begin with a more than acceptable ranking.

Adrián Lozano also did not have an easy time in the U19 Men’s Doubles category, as he was paired with Guillermo Moreda, from Badminton Medinense, also still U17, without previously knowing each other. The age handicap, in addition to not having shared the court before, took its toll on them and they were unable to advance to the final draw.

The next competitive destination of CD Bádminton Albatros will be in Moral de Calatrava (Ciudad Real), on Saturday, November 18, 2023, for the Castilla-La Mancha Badminton Federation Cup, in the Sub13, Sub15 and Absolute categories. with 16 male and female players, in addition to also holding a National Parabadminton Circuit test in the same location and date in which an Albatros athlete will participate.

From the Albatros Badminton Sports Club, all that remains is to thank the different entities that have not stopped supporting the entity, such as the Globalcaja Cuenca Foundation, the Cuenca City Council, the Cuenca Provincial Council and the Sports Service of the Board of Communities of Castilla-La Mancha in Cuenca, as well as the Badminton Federation of Castilla-La Mancha.
