Badminton ’80 Men’s Team Suffers First Loss of the Season

WEZEP – On Saturday, November 18, the Badminton ’80 men’s team played early in the morning at Hoogeveen. The matches were played by: Layo van het Goor, Rémon van de Werfhorst, Thomas Koopman and Justin Booij.

Rémon and Justin played the first doubles and won the match 21-16, 21-16. The second double was for Thomas and Layo. Unfortunately they lost this in two sets, 11-21 and 12-21. Justin played an exciting single, but just lost in the third set: 21-19, 19-21 and 16-21. Layo also played an exciting game with 3 sets, but he also lost the match 16-21, 22-20 and 16-21.

After this it was Rémon’s turn, but after three sets he also lost this match 11-21, 21-19, 13-21. It was Thomas’s turn as the last single, and although it was also three sets, he won the pot 21-19, 19-21, 21-17. Finally, there were the doubles of Justin/Thomas and Rémon/Layo. Thomas and Justin lost their match, again in three sets, 23-25, 21-16, 13-21. Rémon and Layo lost their match 18-21, 17-21.

For the first time in the season, the team lost the match 2-6. the team is still 2 points away from Hoogeveen and remains at the top of the group. The second half of the season starts on December 2 with a match at home against Meteoor.
