AZ will travel to Poland without supporters next month for the away match against Legia Warsaw in the Conference League.
“Following the events in the home match, there has been extensive consultation with all relevant parties. We have come to the conclusion that the safety of our supporters cannot be guaranteed,” can be read on the website of the Alkmaar football club.
There was already unrest around the stadium in the run-up to the 1-0 home game won by AZ on October 5, but after the match everything went completely out of control. Two Legia Warsaw players were arrested by the police on suspicion of assaulting an AZ security coordinator.
Punishment
Legia Warsaw was punished for the disturbances. The club was not allowed to bring supporters to the away match against Zrinjski Mostar and was fined 15,000 euros by the UEFA disciplinary committee.
