The Belarusian defeated Kazakh Jelena Rybakina, world number 4, 6:2.3:6.6:3 in a repeat of the Australian Open final.
From Sabalenka’s point of view, the game in Mexico was interrupted on Thursday due to rain when the score was 6:2, 3:5.
Jessica Pegula, who was declared group winner after wins against the Belarusian and the Kazakh, also remained without losing a set in her third singles match. The American, ranked fifth, defeated the Greek Maria Sakkari 6:3.6:2.
