Arthur Fils impresses with his dynamism

In the National Football League in recent years it has become common practice for those aspirants who hope for a place in the best football league in the world to introduce themselves to the scouts of the respective teams as part of the so-called “Combine”. There is then running, jumping, throwing – evil tongues speak of a meat inspection. On the other hand, it’s also about high-paying contracts for young athletes who have just made a name for themselves in college.

Before the start of the NextGen Finals in Jeddah, seven of the eight participants (Hamad Medjedovic only arrived at the last minute) were able to compete in a type of combine.

The crew around Arthur Fils, Luca van Assche, Dominic Stricker and Co. were also allowed to sprint (a whopping ten meters), jump in the air, do a reaction test with a combined sprint, and complete the standard star run on the court, which is basically… No tennis training should be missed. And what must say? Arthur Fils, who can easily be imagined as a decathlete, kept his fellow competitors in check quite confidently.

And across all tasks. Fils jumped the highest from a standing position with 51 cm, followed by Flavio Cobolli (50) and Abdullah Shelbayh (45). In the sprint, the Frenchman was ahead of Shelbayh (1.75) and Luca Nardi (1.76) with 1.72 seconds. And so on …

The good news for Arthur Fils is that he also hits the ball quite well. And is already in the semi-finals after wins against Nardi and Cobolli.
