The idea of the champion team is to continue demonstrating what they have worked for these 4 years, achieve the greatest number of medals, and make the competitors believe in them, which is the most important thing.

Today at 9 am, the fourth day of competitions begins, where the best players of the 7 delegations will be defined in the individual modality.

As 4 years ago at the XXI National Games of the Bicentennial Bolívar 2019, the confrontation between Valle del Cauca and Antioquia defined the team badminton gold medal, and just like on that occasion, the Antioquians won the title of champions.

The definition began with victory in the mixed modality, giving hope to the Valle del Cauca team. In women’s doubles, the Antioquia team went in search of 1-1, then the athlete Sara Julieth Ávila in women’s singles; For the tiebreaker, Miguel Ángel Quirama, representing the white and green flag, defeated the athlete Yamid Fabricio Gironza in the third set, with two sets in his favor. With the aim of not having to define a medal with a fifth match, the women’s doubles modality gave the athletes Manuela Restrepo and Sara Julieth Ávila the opportunity to defend the advantage they had, winning two sets of three, the latter with a score from 22-20.

In a close day, the Antioquia team finally closed this first part of badminton competitions with a flourish, for which, according to its coach Andrés Felipe Vélez, the team had been preparing both physically and mentally, since the last games in 2019. .

“Four years ago we experienced the same thing, the final against Valle, but there it was a little tighter, since the final score was 3-2. It took 4 years to repeat the team gold medal. Experiencing the matches from the chair is a little more stressful than what they experience playing, since with the blows they release the adrenaline, on the other hand we cannot even shout while the shuttle is playing and we suffer a little more, but anyway we have already “We have learned to regulate ourselves a little, since that tension can affect us.”

For its part, for the Valle del Cauca league this defeat represents an opportunity to strengthen its game from the weaknesses found and recognized in these three days of competitions, as Édgar Alexander Escali expressed it: “There is a very even level with Antioquia, they could win there , or us. Many times the nervousness and the scenario lead to many things, but there was fair play and that is what is important. Now the expectations are to win at least two of the 5 medals in the different modalities with the 8 athletes with whom we came as a delegation.”

After these days of competitions, the different athletes are preparing to begin the fourth day that brings with it 5 medals in the men’s and women’s individual modality, as stated by Manuel Velásquez Sierra, director of the badminton championship, “the next few days will Athletes will continue to fight for their medals, a very competitive tournament awaits us for the good of the region and the public who will be able to enjoy a beautiful event.”

To continue enjoying the remaining 4 days of good badminton, Velásquez Sierra extended the invitation to the public to continue enjoying these spaces healthily, “We had three days of a high level, the preparation that all departments had to reach these events is evident and the most benefited were the attendees who enjoyed this wonderful tournament, for whom there will be 4 more days of excellent competitions and sporting level in the same scenario.”
