With the rhythms of Herencia de Timbiquí, in the midst of varied cultural expressions, happy groups and a colorful parade, the opening ceremony of the Sports Games took place on the night of this Saturday, November 11, at the Hernán Ramírez Villegas stadium in Pereira. Nationals 2023, fairs organized by the Ministry of Sports and in which more than 6 thousand athletes from 33 delegations participate, in 52 modalities of 45 sports disciplines.
The presence of the governor of Antioquia, Aníbal Gaviria Correa, stood out in the parade, who arrived in the Risaraldense capital accompanied by several officials from his cabinet, among whom was the manager of Indeportes Antioquia, Carlos Ignacio Uribe Tirado. They, along with a large group of athletes from the department, led by the flag bearers Karen Durango of swimming and Alejandro Hurtado of underwater activities, graced the opening ceremony of these fairs which was crowned by the lighting of the cauldron with the sports fire by the hands of Hernán Barreneche, athletic glory from Risaraldense, and Mariana Mesa, former tennis player. The closing of the evening was done by the urban music singer Ryan Castro who made the attendees explode with joy.
Nineteen gold medals, in six disciplines, will be competed this Sunday, November 12, on the second day of activities of the 2023 National Sports Games, a contest that will have competitions in seven locations throughout Colombia. The gold medals will be awarded as follows: eight in hapkido, four in artistic swimming, two in the individual cycling time trial, two in sports shooting, two in figure skating and one in badminton, teams.
