The strong earthquake occurred shortly before midnight on Friday and could even be felt in the capital of India, New Delhi, which is more than 800 kilometers away from the site of the disaster. Thus, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent a message of solidarity with the Nepalese people.

This earthquake is the deadliest to hit the Asian country since 2015, when more than 9,000 people died following two strong earthquakes. The consequences were devastating, with more than a million buildings collapsed and the resulting economic loss.
