Alpine skiing, the third women’s downhill timed trial in Zermatt-Cervinia also canceled due to bad weather

The terrible weather forecast the day before was confirmed, inevitably causing the cancellation of the third and final timed trial of the Zermatt-Cervinia downhill race on the occasion of the seasonal Speed Opening (with two races scheduled on Saturday and Sunday) for the 2023-2024 Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup.

Friday was supposed to be the worst of the entire week on the “Gran Becca” slope and in fact the decision to cancel today’s training came already at dawn. Wind too strong and more snow on the way are the two main causes of this umpteenth change of program in Zermatt-Cervinia, but at this point the hope is to contest at least one of the two downhill races over the weekend.

Conditions should be better tomorrowwith a favorable weather window that could allow the competition to take place starting from 11.45 am. Cautious optimism therefore for race 1while on Sunday the situation risks worsening again, making the race-2 dispute complicated for the women jets of the White Circus, who have only been able to carry out one timed test so far.
