Ajla Tomljanovic achieved her biggest tournament victory to date on Sunday: The 30-year-old won the WTA 125 event in Florianopolis, Brazil after a 6:1 and 7:5 win against Martina Capurro Taborda and was allowed to start after her long injury break This means we can once again celebrate a sense of success during the season.
The Australian missed the first seven months of the current season due to a knee injury and only returned to the tour at the US Open. In New York in 2022, Tomljanovic ended Serena Williams’ career and reached the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam tournament for the third time in her career.

The former world number 32 made a big leap forward in the rankings by winning the tournament in Florianopolis: Tomljanovic, who fended off four match points in the second round against the Turkish Ipek Oz, improved by 261 positions to 282nd place.
