“An unimportant death” on the TV program for Thursday, November 30, 2023 – France 3 is rebroadcasting this Thursday evening at 9.10 p.m. this excellent TV film by Christian Bonnet with Bruno Salomone, Caroline Proust, Théo Augier and Anne-Elizabeth Blateau (Scènes de households) in the main roles.
The TV movie tells the story of Basile, who is involved in a murder. His father, Alain, decides to protect him despite the seriousness of the facts while it is Claire, his ex-wife who is leading the criminal investigation.
An unimportant death: Summary and Cast
In a small town near Marseille, between city and countryside, an outcast who lived on abandoned municipal land is found dead. The first findings concluded that it was a murder. Claire Lepecq-Quémeneur, who works at the local SRPJ, is in charge of the investigations. Her ex-husband, Alain Quémeneur, has custody of their son Basile, 17 years old. As the investigation begins, Alain realizes that Basile knows more than he should about the death of the man, a certain Didier Novelli.
Without telling Claire, Alain quickly discovers the truth: with two of his friends, Basile is guilty of Novelli’s murder. This one, near where the three teenagers were going archery, was killed during an argument started for unclear reasons.
Determined to protect Basile despite the seriousness of the facts, Alain decides to do everything to prevent his ex-wife from discovering their son’s guilt.
Engaged in active collusion with the parents of the two other young people, he finds himself caught in a spiral of lies and denial which will undermine his very reason.
For her part, Claire uncovers clues that seem to suggest that her son and his two friends might not be totally unrelated to the circumstances surrounding Novelli’s death. Won by increasingly alarming suspicions, she gropes towards a truth from which she may well not recover.
