48 hours of jumping: dream weekend for jockey Gaëtan Masure

He predicted it! In the wake of his victory on Saturday in the Autumn Grand Prix (Group I), Gaëtan Masure confided: “I’m going to beat him”. By mentioning Gran Diose, one of the favorites for the Prix La Haye Jousselin, another Group I on the program for the 48 hours of jumping at the Auteuil racecourse.

Like Thélème, Grandeur Nature, also trained by Arnaud Chaillé-Chaillé, delighted the 33-year-old jockey by dominating the crack of Louisa Carberry at the end of a breathtaking finish. “It’s always the last attacker who wins,” smiles the winning driver just after the race.

In the last 500 meters, the fervor on the Mortemart hill won over the majority of spectators. Gran Diose, ridden by James Reveley, had however burst the screen and seemed to be heading towards a prestigious success, he who had broken away by clearly taking the lead of the race. But he finally suffered the blow in the heavy ground, and saw Grandeur Nature pass him in front.

To the delight of Gaëtan Masure, winner of a new Group I in two days. After seventeen years of career, La Haye Jousselin allowed him to record his 314th success in obstacle racing. And what can we say about Arnaud Chaillé-Chaillé, the Charente coach, who also left his mark on this very special weekend.
