2026 World Cup Qualification: When 3 ASEAN Countries Lose 5 Goals, Malaysia Wins Dramatically 4-3!

Bola.net – The Malaysian national team achieved good results on the first matchday of the 2026 World Cup Qualifications in the Asian zone. Harimau Malaya achieved contrasting results compared to other ASEAN countries, the majority of which lost.

In the 2026 World Cup Qualifications, the Malaysian National Team is in Group D. On the first matchday, Malaysia hosts Kyrgyzstan at the Bukit Jalil Stadium on Thursday (16/11/2023) evening WIB.

Malaysia was left behind with a score of 1-3 in the 57th minute. However, Kim Pang-gon’s troops were able to rise. In the final 20 minutes of the match, Malaysia scored a goal and won with a score of 4-3 over Kyrgyzstan.

Myanmar met a tough opponent on the first matchday of Group B of the 2026 World Cup Qualification, Japan. In the duel at the Panasonic Stadium, Myanmar lost by five goals without reply from the hosts.

Ayase Ueda scored a hat trick for Japan. The other two goals were contributed by Daichi Kamada and Ritsu Doan.

In the Myanmar camp, there are Indonesian nuances in their squad. Borneo FC winger Win Naing Tun also played. In the 60th minute, coach Michael Feichtenbeiner played Win Naing Tun to replace Hein Htet Aung.

Singapore Crushed in the Hands of South Korea

The five goals in Singapore’s goal were scored respectively by Cho Gue-sung, Hwang Hee-chan, Son Heung-min, Hwang Ui-jo and Lee Kang-in.

Just like in the Myanmar squad, there is an Indonesian flavor in the Singapore squad. There are three Singaporean players playing in BRI Liga 1, namely Song Ui-yong (Persebaya Surabaya), Joachim Mahler (Madura United), and Zulfahmi Arifin (Bhayangkara FC).

Indonesia loses badly at Iraq Headquarters

The Indonesian national team travels to Iraq’s headquarters on the first matchday of Group A of the 2026 World Cup Qualification, Thursday (16/11/2023) evening WIB. In the duel at the Basra Sport City Stadium, Iraq won with a score of 5-1.

Iraq’s five goals against Indonesia were scored by Bashar Rasan, Jordi Amat (suicide), Osama Rashid, Youssef Amyn and Ali Al Zubaidi. Meanwhile, Indonesia got a consolation goal from Shayne Pattynama’s action.

This result puts the Indonesian national team at the bottom of Group F. Iraq is at the top of the standings, ahead of Vietnam on goal difference.

Thailand loses at home

ASEAN football giant, Thailand, also lost on the first matchday of Group C in the 2026 World Cup Qualification round. Thailand lost to China in the duel at Rajamangala Stadium, Thursday (16/11/2023) evening WIB.

Coach Mano Polking can play his best squad. Chanathip Songkrasin and Teeraton Bunmathan entered the starting XI. However, Thailand actually lost with a score of 1-2.

Thailand took the lead in the 23rd minute from Sarach Yooyen’s goal. However, they conceded twice from Wu Lei in the 29th minute and Wang Shangyuan in the 74th minute.

Vietnam National Team Wins Away

The Vietnam national team won on the first matchday of Group F of the 2026 World Cup Qualifications in the Asian zone. Visiting the Philippines headquarters, Vietnam won with a score of 2-0.

The match between Vietnam and Morocco was played at the Rizal Memorial Stadium, Thursday (16/11/2023) evening WIB. Even though they were visiting teams, Vietnam performed quite well.

The Golden Star took the lead in the 16th minute through the action of Nguyen Van Toan. After that, Vietnam had to wait until the 90+4 minute to score the second goal. Vietnam’s second goal was scored by Nguyen Dinh Bac.
