18 Athletes Representing the German Judo Association at the European U23 Championships in Potsdam

18 athletes will be competing for the German Judo Association at the European U23 European Championships in Potsdam.

Nine women and nine men are registered for the European U23 Championships in Brandenburg’s capital Potsdam. From November 17th to 19th, the best judoka in Europe in the age group up to 23 years old will compete and fight for the European championship title.

The German athletes have gained good experience and medals in the men’s and women’s divisions in recent months. Maximilian Standke, Losseni Kone and Anna Monta Olek have already taken part in the World Championships in Doha, Lena Djeriou and Pierre Ederer won bronze at the Junior European Championships and several athletes fought on the IJF tour.

Seven athletes took part in the U23 European Championships in Sarajevo last year. Samira Bock became European champion, Friederike Stolze won bronze and Fabian Kansy came fifth.

A start in Germany is always something special for the athletes and they have big plans. Friederike Stolze, for example, won the bronze medal at the European Open in Zagreb in September and thus secured nomination for the European Championships U23. “I’m on the right track and hope that I can defend my European Championship medal from last year and maybe even improve on silver or gold,” she says with an optimistic feeling towards the European Championships.

321 judoka from 37 nations are registered for the title fights in Potsdam.

Judo fans shouldn’t miss this home event and loudly cheer on our athletes. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster: https://www.ticketmaster.de/search?keyword=European%20Judo
