Samcheok City, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province announced that the ’10th Samcheok Marine Cave Cup National Open Badminton Competition’ will be held for two days from April 4 to November 5 at Samcheok Gymnasium, Samcheok Citizens Gymnasium, and Samcheok Elementary School.
About 2,000 players from 1,000 teams are expected to participate in this competition, which is hosted by the Samcheok City Sports Council and organized by the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Badminton Association and the Samcheok City Badminton Association.
The competition will start at 8 a.m. on the 4th and will be held in the form of a preliminary league and final tournament for each age group from 20s to 60s and older in men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.
The opening ceremony will be held at Samcheok Gymnasium at 6 p.m. on the first day. In particular, at the opening ceremony, a demonstration game will be held by the team technician team consisting of Kim Ki-jeong (Dangjin City Hall), Kim Sa-rang (Samsung Life Insurance), Heo Kwang-hee (Samsung Life Insurance), Kim Jeong-seok (former national team member), and Eom Hye-won (Gimcheon City Hall).
Joo Jong-won, head of the Sports Department, said, “I hope this competition will be a meaningful competition where players can demonstrate their skills to the fullest and expand the base of badminton.”
