Yohann Auvitu signs in Vitkovice, Czech Republic

Two years in the NHL and a controversial transfer to Russia

Vitkovice recruited an experienced defender, who, in the Blues jersey, played ten World Championships. Trained in Viry-Châtillon then at HC Mont-Blanc in Haute-Savoie, Auvitu then left for Finland in 2008, for eight years, and played in the NHL (58 matches between 2016 and 2018 for New Jersey and Edmonton) .

Back in Europe, he was seen in Russia, Sweden and then again in Finland. In August 2022, Yohann Auvitu made headlines by returning to the Russian KHL (to Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk), when this country had invaded Ukraine. The French player only stayed there for half a season before joining Genève-Servette HC and helping to win the Swiss Champion title.

Auvitu will play the Champions League

“We are bringing an experienced and quality defender to the team, because we are not playing well in defense at the moment,” Vitkovice sporting director Roman Simicek said on the club’s website. We are confident that a player of Yohann’s caliber will help us improve our defensive play, which will enhance the team’s play as a whole. We are very happy to have managed to recruit a player of the caliber of Yohann Auvitu. »

With his new team, the Frenchman will take part in the Champions League. Vitkovice is currently ranked 15th two days before the end of the regular season (knowing that the first 16 will play the round of 16).
