This Sunday in mid-October, fortunately still assisted by the favorable climate, sees all the current yellow-green teams busy on the field: the seniors host the Lions Nettuno on Saturday at 3.30 pm, in Montefiascone, for the last first leg of the Winter League, while the Under 12s play in Viterbo at 1pm with the Red Foxes and at 3pm with the local team. Minibaseball will be away to Rome on Sunday, on the Rebibbia field, to meet Cali Acilia at 1pm and the Red Foxes at 3pm.

The Seniors’ match against the Nettuno Lions looks treacherous: the Tyrrhenians, returning from third place in the Serie B group, almost reaching the play-offs, have so far lost 6 to 5 in the Winter League with the Dolphins Anzio and won 8 to 7 with Cali; two balanced matches with low scores, which suggest a spectacular match for Saturday afternoon, with the first place in the first round at stake.

The Nettunians’ strong points are their batting – they finished Serie B with a stratospheric team batting average of 382 – and the pitching mound, equipped for the two matches of Serie B, which also includes Claudio Magnoni, an old acquaintance of Faliscan baseball, and the young Filippo Sabatini, fresh from the Regensburg tournament with the Under 18 national team.

WiPlanet will miss Matteo Carletti and, probably, Leonardo Ceppari, who injured his wrist in the last match. These are important absences, only partially compensated by the return of Pepponi and Franceschelli.

“So far the Winter League has been positive for us – declared president Tabarrini – especially in terms of training the squad for next year. Certainly the young shortstop Yael Mendez could be an excellent acquisition, but the Montefiasconi are also making steps forward. We also want to underline the good experiences that the U12 and Minibaseball youth teams are having, who are also busy on the field this weekend.”

Tigers Under 12. On Saturday in Viterbo the last concentration of the Lazio Cup takes place for the Tigers Under 12, who will play at 1pm with the Red Foxes and at 3.30pm with Viterbo. So far Viterbo leads the table, followed by the yellow-green Tigers and the Volpi Rosse.

Tigers Minibaseball. The youngest members of Mini are instead busy in Rome, on the Rebibbia pitch, guests of the Red Foxes, playing first with CALI and then with the home team. First in the standings is Cali, but the yellow-green Tigers have a good chance of joining them in the standings.
