(CNN) — Before you go crazy with the headline, you need to calm down.
Much has been made of how Taylor Swift has helped “put Travis Kelce” on the map. With all due respect to Swift, Kelce wasn’t a complete stranger to the world before they started spending time together.
However, it is true that since Swift began appearing at the Kansas City Chiefs football player’s games, Kelce has gained followers on social networks, sales of his jerseys have increased by almost 400% and ratings of Viewership of his team’s games has skyrocketed.
All of this begs the question: what does Taylor Swift gain from it?
Although neither Swift nor Kelce have publicly said if they are anything more than friends, here are some possible theories as to why she may be enjoying Kelce’s company.
Theory 1: Swift may have been flattered by Kelce’s initiative
It’s not easy to ask someone out, especially a pop superstar.
But that’s just what Kelce did.
In July, the American football player shared on his podcast “New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce“—who hosts with his brother and fellow NFL player Jason Kelce—who had tried to give the singer his number during one of her concerts.
“I was disappointed to learn that she doesn’t speak before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs she sings,” she told her brother after Jason mentioned that he knew Travis had come to the show. “So it hurt a little bit that I couldn’t give her one of the bracelets I made for her.”
Isn’t it cute that Kelce used the friendship bracelets that were part of Swift’s “The Eras Tour” to try to get closer to her? If it seems like a nice gesture to us, Swift probably does too.
Theory 2: It just makes sense
If life were high school, Swift would surely be the leader of the cheerleaders.
You can’t be more popular than her right now, and who was the head cheerleader going to date if not the star football player?
Kelce was a star before Swift-mania. From his dances in the end zone to his fashion sense, the man simply stands out.
They are the queen and king of the dance.
Plus, Swift can’t date just anyone. She needs someone who can handle fame and life in the spotlight. A superstar dating a shy professor or architect may be what we see in Hallmark movies, but in real life big celebrities usually limit themselves to dating other stars.
Theory 3: This is what would happen in Swift’s songs
At the first game Swift attended to cheer on Kelce, her team won by a landslide and the couple disappeared into the night in his convertible car.
It sounds like a Swift song and music video.
His songs are part fantasy, part reality (at least when it comes to his exes) and everything to do with connecting with his audience. And who doesn’t like love?
When a person becomes as rich and famous as Swift, it’s harder for normal people to identify with them. But what is closer than a possible love story?
Theory 4: He may know we need an escape route.
With political upheaval, the climate crisis, and even the stress of everyday life, obsessing over a possible relationship between Swift and Kelce feels like a respite. When even the White House gets involved, it’s definitely “something.”
From private parties to shows of support after a tragedy, Swift has always been there for her fans. She knows what makes them happy and decides to do it. Could it be that she is now expanding her magical network to connect with us?
Theory 5: The most obvious reason
Because she is an adult woman and is free to date whoever she wants.
