VIII Olympic Cup: Judo Competition Expects Record Number of Participants

For lovers of contact sports in the judo discipline, the “VIII Olympic Cup” will be held, which is estimated to exceed the number of participants present in past editions. The sporting event will take place on December 15 and 16 at the sports center of the “Mariscal Cáceres” Educational Institution, starting at eight in the morning.

The instructor and organizer, Ronald Javier Aguado Sauñe, confirmed the presence of more than 200 athletes before opening registration. Likewise, he assured that this type of judo event will serve to improve the sporting levels of the athletes who have been winning important medals for the region.

“It’s going to be a whole sports festival where all the judokas are going to fraternize. Now everyone will be able to participate in this event, because we have open calls, from the children’s, youth, junior, adult and master categories,” the instructor emphasized.

These types of competitions help raise the technical and physical levels of athletes in the region and are a way to fraternize with Peruvian judo. Likewise, these types of spaces are for healthy recreation where judokas can demonstrate their skills in the contact sport.

The athletes, as part of the sports preparation for the “VIII Olympic Cup”, would be participating as a prelude to sporting events such as the school games (national stage), the international championship in Paita and the Grand Prix Gi.

“There is a good chance that Ayacucho can be champion of this national championship, we trust in our athletes and their ability. First place for the region is one of the things our judo athletes are longing for. Everything will depend on our perseverance and discipline,” said Aguado.

The sporting event will have the presence of the departments of Trujillo, Piura, Lima, Arequipa, Cusco, Apurímac, among others who would be confirming their participation in the coming days.

The sporting event will have two registration phases, the first call will begin on October 9 and the second phase will begin the first week of November until the end of November or until the entire registration capacity is covered.

“In the event that the expectations of this national cup exceed the capacity, we will be managing for the event to be moved to the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD), for the greater comfort of the athletes and the population that will witness the judo sporting event. ”Aguado said.

Participants in the second date of the “Olympic Cup” will be awarded a full scholarship to participate in contact sports such as judo and jiu jitsu in their different categories that range from four years onwards.

“I invite the entire population to witness this sporting event, it will be a high-level competition and can be enjoyed with the family. Don’t miss the opportunity to be part of this athletic family in judo,” concluded Aguado.
