Even though they were battered in this friendly match, a number of Vietnamese media continued to show off the ranking of Phlippe Troussier’s team in the FIFA rankings.

Soha said Vietnam had the opportunity to move up one ranking from 95th to 94th position. In the report submitted, Vietnam lost 6.89 points after three defeats on FIFA Matchday.

The reason is that Armenia received more points deductions than Vietnam. Armenia lost 20.22 points, so Vietnam still has more points.

The 94th ranking is the highest for Vietnam in the FIFA rankings since 2021. In Asia, Vietnam is ranked 15th, while remaining at the top in ASEAN.

Meanwhile, Bongdaplus reported that the defeat to Uzbekistan was not included in the points calculation in the FIFA rankings. The match against Uzbekistan is only considered an internal match.
