Today, in the “Pafbet” Latvian-Estonian Basketball League (LIBL), “University of Latvia” will host the “Valmiera Glass/Vidzemes Augstskola” team at home, while “Liepāja” will fight with Tallinn’s “Kalev”/”Cramo” at home.

The duel between Riga and Valmiera teams “Rimi” in the Olympic Center will start at 18:30. The LU unit has experienced losses in all three matches played, but the Valmieri team has won one in the same matches, these teams taking the last and 11th place, respectively.

Arnolds Helmanis and Otto Färenhorsts were the top scorers for LU in the matches so far with 11.3 and 11.0 points, respectively. In the Valmiera team, Seneka Naits scored 36 points in the previous match and averaged 20.7 points.

The second match of the day in the Liepāja Olympic Center will start at 19:00. Both teams are among the four teams that have won the first two matches of the season, and the basketball players who celebrated their success today will become the leaders of the tournament.

Emīls Krūmiņš stood out for Liepaja with an average of 18.5 points and 3.5 assists, Klāvs Dubults – with 12.0 points and 9.5 rebounds, Reinis Avotiņš and Kristaps Ķilps are also among the most productive. Among the basketball players who participated in both matches, Oleksandrs Kovliars is the most productive for Tallinn with an average of 14.5 points and 4.0 assists.

In addition to the Riga-based Ukrainian team “Prometey”, “VEF Rīga”, “Ventspils”, “Liepāja”, “Ogre”, “University of Latvia”, “Valmiera Glass”/”Vidzemes Augstskola” and “Rīgas Zeļļi” are competing in the LIBL this season. Estonia is represented in LIBL by Tallinn “Kalev”/”Cramo”, “University of Tartu”/”Maks & Moorits”, “Parnu Sadam”, “Viimsi”, Rapla “Avis Utilitas”, Tallinn “TalTech”/”Optibet”, “Keila” and “Kalev” of Tallinn.

In the main tournament, the teams compete in a two-round tournament, after which the eight best teams will participate in the playoffs. In the quarter-finals and semi-finals, the winners will be decided in series of up to two victories, but in the final, one match will be played on the court of the team that will be in the highest place in the main tournament.
