Two starting places for Austria in road races

Austria will receive two starting places for the 2024 Olympic cycling road races in Paris. That will be clear after the end of this year’s World Tour season. The best nations in the rankings are allowed to field four drivers, five other countries each have three.

Christina Schweinberger took second place in the women’s quota for the time trial thanks to bronze at the World Championships; Austria only has one place in the men’s quota in the fight against the clock.

Places allocated for women

Like Anna Kiesenhofer, Schweinberger, who achieved top positions in several one-day and stage races this year, is considered a permanent starter. Schweinberger and Kiesenhofer would compete in both Olympic disciplines, because the time trials have to be filled from the road race contingents.

The race for the two Austrian places among men is more open. The nominations will not take place until early summer 2024.
