This is Thomas Bach’s man for the Olympics

Not a traditional sports official, but elected to the International Olympic Committee (IOC): not many Germans have achieved that. The fact that Michael Mronz was accepted by the IOC members this Tuesday during their session in Mumbai with 64 yes votes and nine rejections is due to his independence, in particular from the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB).

He congratulated the Rhinelander, who was born in Cologne in 1967, effusively. However, this approval cannot disguise the impression that Thomas Bach, as IOC President, preferred Michael Mronz to any deserving specialist association chairman, including DOSB President Thomas Weikert, with his proposal. Why?
